BioSemi
Introduction
BioSemi equipment is mainly used for measuring EEG, but can also be used for measuring ECG and EMG (usually in combination with EEG). Data is usually recorded with the Actiview software. See here for instructions on doing EEG research with BioSemi equipment.
Markers
To analyze EEG data, markers that signal the onset of certain events need to be sent from stimulus presentation pc to the BioSemi device. See for more information on sending markers the pages Sending Markers in E-Prime and Sending Markers in OpenSesame and the Markers and Events page for more information on markers in general.
FAQ
| Date | Topic | Answer |
| 02-06-2023 | BioSemi CMS/DRL error when plugging in a bundle at A | When plugging in a bundle in the A position of the amplifier, the CMS/DRL error appears (blinking blue LED). This can be caused by gel in the connector (on the electrode bundle). Contact labsupport@fsw.leidenuniv.nl. Labsupport, see here for more info. |
| 02-04-2026 | Sample rate and bandwidth | The bandwidth of the Active2 system is 1/5 of the sample rate. When measuring fEMG the signal of interest can be in a range up to 500 Hz. Therefore, make sure to set a high enough sample rate in your Biosemi system (e.g. > 4000 Hz), so that meaningful frequencies do not get filtered out. The Active3 system has a fixed sampling rate of 16384 Hz and bandwidth of 5.4 kHz. For more information, see Biosemi EEG ECG EMG BSPM NEURO amplifiers systems. |
