Introduction

The Observer XT from Noldus is software used for coding and analyzing observational data.

Availability, support and advice

SOLO strongly advises to start new observation projects in ELAN. ELAN is an open-source and free alternative for the Observer. SOLO does not plan to extend the licenses of the Observer in the future. A comparison between the Observer and ELAN can be found here: Comparison the Observer vs ELAN - XWiki.

The Observer XT is installed in the Researchdata analysis room at the FSW and can be requested via the ISSC Helpdesk for your work computer. SOLO has license keys (basic and coder) available. For access, please contact SOLO at labsupport@fsw.leidenuniv.nl. SOLO provides only limited technical support for The Observer XT.

The Observer has a useful video tutorial. After opening the Observer, go to Help -> Video Tutorial.
