On Support for Task Development
Generally, our help is most useful if there is a specific aspect (or problem) of the task that you need support with.
Given our limited personnel and resources at the moment, it is not feasible for us to walk through your task and check if it it works as intended. A general theme in programming experiment tasks is that there are a thousand valid ways of programming essentially the same task, so it’s not very helpful for us to check if you are using the one ‘correct’ way. Instead if you have questions relating to any of the below, we can schedule a meeting.
- Does the task run at all on the computer (or does it crash). If the latter, we can help you identify/solve the problem.
- If applicable, are markers (e.g. for Biopac or EEG) sent currently during the task?
- Does the task look and function properly? This is something we can only provide very limited assistance with, as you are the one who know what it should look like / do exactly. Of course if it doesn’t do something properly, we can help you with that.
- Does the task save/produce the right kind of data? Again, this is very dependent on your plans for analysis etc, so you (or your supervisor) will be the best judge of whether it is correct or not, but if something is not working properly we can help you with that.
- Is there advanced / complex / novel functionality that you need and have trouble implementing?
Of course, if you really get stuck even before getting to any of the above, we can also set up a meeting to help you out.
